I have to tell you, friends, I wasted a LOT of time worrying. This whole selling the house thing....it about did me in and I don't think I care to do it again....EVER! It's not that I was worried that God wasn't going to take care of us or that He didn't have a plan for us. I spent lots of time worried that God's best for our situation would be, I am embarrassed to say, hard.
That's right, friends. I was so scared that God was going to make me walk through the fire. I am sure He has some hard things in our future and we did just recently walk through some pretty tough stuff but I wouldn't call any of that "the fire."
I have been made painfully aware of how dependant I have become on my immediate circumstances for my own happiness. I know this because I have been a WRECK! I mean a serious tons of wreckage and ruined lives train wreck!
A dear friend helped me put things in perspective. She reminded me how God has worked in our lives in the past. He has always done amazing things for us, y'all! I realized while thinking back that God always does great things that bring Him glory, BUT we are always DESPERATE for Him to meet our needs.
I think I forgot to be desperate for Him. I have become a little too confident in my own abilities and those around me to meet our true or perceived needs. I would like to say I have learned my lesson, but I am pretty sure I will walk this road again. I usually have to learn lessons several times and most of the time it's the hard way.
Right now I am just so thankful for the provision of our Father. He is abundantly more than I can ever understand.

We officially went into contract today to sell our house. 14 days after we put it on the market! Thursday is our inspection. Prayers would be appreciated. I am very aware that this could all fall through at the drop of a hat. That is actually why I haven't shared more....BUT
I have decided to share this journey and the ups and downs as we move through it. I was a little hesitant before because what if it didn't work out like I wanted it to? Wouldn't that make me look foolish? Well, there are so many reasons that I might look foolish but I certainly don't want to appear unfaithful. I think it is important to celebrate what God is doing RIGHT now. I could waste precious time worrying about how it will end up and miss opportunities to see HOW God is working NOW. So, I am thanking and praising God that in our small little town where there are over 100 houses for sale, mine is in contract. I am thanking and praising God that we have had this wonderful house to keep us cool for the past 4 years. I am praising God that this house is full of sweet little people that call me Mom. I am praising God that we have so many dear friends that helped us paint, clean, fix doors, fix drywall, and all kinds of other hard, hot work to get this house ready. I am praising God that I am not alone in this journey. I am praising God for a husband that leads me and our family into a closer relationship with our Lord.
There is so much to praise God for!

Update
Well, I have been hesitant to share our progress here. Part of me doesn't want to share how difficult the journey has been for me I just want to share the happy conclusion and well, we just aren't there yet. Don't get me wrong, God is doing His thing and He never disappoints when He promises to care for His creation! But I would be lying if I said it hasn't been difficult for me to wait, or sleep. I haven't been getting much sleep lately. I vacillate wildly between fretting over quickly everything is progressing to lamenting over how slow things seem to be going. I realize it can not both be a slow progression AND a super fast one but this is the crazy that has come to rest in my restless mind.
Honestly, things are really moving along quickly. Today we will most likely sign a contract with a buyer for our house. This is a HUGE praise. Perhaps I should back up a little bit. Three weeks ago we started the process of getting the house on the market. It felt like a monumental task that would NEVER be accomplished in the mere two weeks we were shooting for. We had LOTS of wonderful people come help in the effort. God multiplied our efforts and the money we had to accomplish the tasks! We painted, we patched, we moved furniture, we had new garage doors installed...It looks pretty good around here. I kept asking myself why we didn't do these things sooner.
We made it to June 1 and got the house on the market. As far as I know, only one family has looked at the house. They are selling their house June 30 and would like to close then. That leaves us homeless for a month but I am certainly willing to work that out. It just means the kids and I will get to have a little more time with my parents. Of course, I realize that this could fall through at any moment. I am still trusting God and I know He has it all worked out for HIS glory. So, I wait.
While I wait I am getting ready for a garage sale. I can't really say I am looking forward to having a garage sale. We have some pretty big items we want to pass on....It 's gonna be a little work to get them out there...I do NOT want to have to move them back. I do know this.....I am ashamed at how much stuff we have accumulated! Good grief. Stuff we might need.....some day. Stuff we were given, or just HAD to have. Christmas gifts, birthday gifts....STUFF.
We cleaned a LOT of stuff out in order to show the house. It feels soooo nice. I forget how heavy stuff makes me feel. It swallows you up if you let it and you are trapped by it. There is a lot of our stuff that I really love, the bunk beds my dad made, our bedroom furniture, our table and mismatched chairs, my reddish pink chair, our leather furniture. I really like those things, but they are just THINGS. They do not dictate who I am or if I am happy or not. Why do we attach ourselves to stuff? I usually only consider these things this deeply when I am faced with having to pack them away and move it across country. I hope I will not allow myself to be wooed by the idea that stuff makes me happy or meets my needs. More or better storage is not the answer. There isn't one thing we have moved out of the house to the garage that we have missed. NOT ONE THING!
I know for certain that if one of my children were missing or something happened to Dan....then I would be missing something that does matter. Relationship is SOO much more important than stuff. We tell our kids that people are more important than stuff all the time when they argue over toys...Sometimes we adults need a healthy reminder, too.
